The holiday season is here yet again and what better time to indulge in food than this Christmas season? But before you lose yourself in the sumptuous feasts during your parties, perhaps you should consider some macro-friendly holiday recipes to go with your lifestyle goals.

Today, we’ll be covering three healthy holiday recipes that are both nutritious and delicious, the very best of both worlds!

Pork Tenderloin with Stuffed Mushroom

What better way than to get your protein intake in with some pork tenderloin and cremini mushrooms, grilled to perfection? The pork tenderloin, which is the leanest cut of pork, packs a whopping 22 grams of protein and less than 3 grams of fat in a small 3 ounce serving.

Simply butterfly the pork and grill it over medium-high heat while seasoning it with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Grill the pork until the thermometer measures 140 degrees F, in about 30 minutes’ time before transferring to a cutting board.

Meanwhile, you can cook your mushrooms in salt, pepper and even bacon! They should be soft and succulent in 4 minutes and you can transfer the mushrooms onto the pork while it is resting. Serve with a zest of lemon and parsley oil upon completion.

Eggnog Protein Drink

Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without the festive holiday drink of Eggnog when family and friends are gathered for a meal. Let this festive drink serve as your post workout protein shake instead! A simple tweak in the recipe would make a delicious drink with more than 30 grams of protein per serving.

Combine 1 ½ cups of low-fat milk or a non-dairy alternative if you wish, together with some orange or lemon zest. Add a serving of protein powder, preferably grass fed vanilla flavored and warm in a medium saucepan. On the side, whisk 3 large eggs together with a ⅓ cup of sugar and a pinch of cornstarch before pouring the hot milk mixture together with the egg mixture. Stir well for 10 minutes until the mixture warms and you’re good to go. Serve chilled and season with a spice of your choice.

Light Deviled Eggs

An all-time favorite appetizer, deviled eggs are a no brainer dish to serve at your next Christmas party. Light on the stomach and high in protein, it’s the perfect dish to start off your feast.

Start with 12 large boiled eggs, sliced into half. Remove the yolk and mix it together with some cayenne, paprika, yogurt and mustard. Once it’s done, spoon the mixture into the egg whites before finishing with a pickled garnish. Serve chilled with a side topping of mayonnaise.
